How Regular Tumble Class Attendance Helps to Avoid Injuries

There is no secret that the strain put on their bodies by All Star Cheer Athletes is that of enormous proportions!

This is true for all components of the sport.

Whether stunting, tumbling, or simply working through the demanding diverse elements that exist within their routines, it is not difficult to see why athletes, even when taking every step imaginable to properly prepare themselves, are susceptible to an injury.

From the relatively mild to extraordinarily serious, injuries are something that every athlete (and coach!) deeply dreads.

One way of helping to guard your body against injury is by attending your weekly tumble class.

Now of course, before anything else, this assumes that the tumble class you take is conducted by professional instructors, in a structured way that pushes as much, if not more, emphasis on the overall preparation of the body itself than the actual portions of the class where tumbling is taught and practiced.

By taking your body through this weekly routine, you not only have the short-term benefit of the progression of yourself as an athlete from what comes out of the class, but you also are able to continue to allow your body to get used to the rigor which tumbling puts on it on a regular basis.

Whatever the reasoning may be, if you are an All Star athlete who tumbles in any capacity, missing even one class can be enormously detrimental.

This does NOT mean that you will lose that beautiful back handspring that you have had for years by simply missing one class.

By missing one class, however, you are potentially taking your body out of its rhythm of preparation and increasing your chances (even slightly) for that freak injury that every athlete fears.

This is especially true for athletes as they get older.

As an athlete gets older and more responsibilities come into play – work, social pressures of hanging with friends, increased workload at school, etc. – it will naturally become easier for an athlete to want to take off a weekend of tumbling due to the obvious exhausting nature of their schedule.

It is even more important that as athletes age though, that they configure working in their weekly tumbling into what is most likely an already busy schedule.

This is because as we age, particularly during our teens, our bodies can change at a seemingly lightspeed pace.

The changing of our bodies often comes at a time when many All Star athletes are arriving at a place throwing higher-level skills.

With a changing body, the considerable demand on your body because of these higher-level skills, and the greater possibility of fatigue due to a draining schedule, the conditioning and technique enhancement at weekly tumble class is vital for not only helping to keep pace with things from a tumbling perspective, but also in helping to guard yourself from getting hurt.

While certainly not making you bulletproof, as an injury can clearly happen at any time (and often does!), weekly tumble class will without a doubt help in setting your body up as best as possible for optimal protection against having to take any unwanted time away from the sport.
