Cheerleading is certainly super fun and exciting! But sometimes, before a competition, you might feel a little nervous. That’s okay! Everyone feels that way sometimes. But guess what? You can do some things to feel more confident and be ready to shine! Let’s talk about some tips to help you feel great before you compete!
First, it’s important to believe in yourself. You’re FANTASTIC, and you’ve practiced A LOT! Remember all the times you nailed your skills, stunts, and routines during practice. Keep those memories in your mind. They can remind you that you’re totally capable and ready for anything.
Next, take some deep breaths. Breathing in and out slowly can help you feel calm and relaxed. Try it! Take a big breath in through your nose, and then blow it out gently through your mouth. Do this a few times whenever you start to feel nervous. It’s like magic!
Another cool trick is to imagine yourself doing great. Close your eyes and picture yourself smiling and having so much fun while you compete. Imagine your jumps are super high, your stunts are solid, and your tumbling is perfect. When you imagine yourself doing awesome, it can help you believe that you really can do it!
It’s also important to talk to your teammates. They’re your cheer family, and they want you to do your best. Share your feelings with them, and cheer each other up. Encourage each other and remind each other how amazing you all are. Together, you can conquer anything!
Remember to stay positive. Instead of worrying about what might go wrong, focus on all the things that could go right. Think about how much fun you’re going to have and how proud you’ll feel after you perform your heart out. Positive thoughts can give you positive energy!
Sometimes, things might not go exactly as planned. That’s okay too! Mistakes happen, and they’re a normal part of learning and growing. If there is a misstep during the routine, don’t worry about it. Just keep going and give it your all. Your team is there to support you, no matter what.
Lastly, be proud of yourself no matter what happens. Whether you win or not, you’ve worked hard and done your best. Celebrate all the effort you’ve put in and all the progress you’ve made. You’re a superstar just for being brave enough to get out there and perform your heart out! – something the majority of folks might never be able to do!!
Remember these tips when you’re feeling nervous or unsure. Believe in yourself, breathe deeply, imagine success, talk to your teammates, stay positive, embrace mistakes, and be proud of yourself. You’ve got this! Now go out there and perform like the amazing athlete you are!
