Perhaps one of the most asked questions regarding programming at the gym is ‘How early is an athlete able to start?’ (or some version of this).

In terms of actual classes that feel like “practice”, the youngest we begin at is with our ‘FUNdamentals’ program which begins at age 4.

FUNdamentals is our most basic introductory program and is a terrific way for our youngest of athletes to begin to get acclimated to the sport of All Star Cheer.

The FUNdamentals program has ongoing enrollment and after the initial Registration fee ($150), the cost of the program is $20/week and includes a one-hour practice on Friday evenings, a one-hour tumble class on Sunday mornings, and complete access to unlimited tumble & skill-building classes (excluding Private lessons & specialized clinics) that any participating athlete is age and skill-level eligible for (which lasts as long as they are involved in the program!).

FUNdamentals is a super cool part of cheerleading!

FUNdamentals is all about getting started with cheer in a fun and friendly way. It’s the beginner’s class where you learn all the basics. Imagine you’re just starting to learn how to ride a bike. FUNdamentals is like having training wheels on your bike to help you balance and learn without falling over too much.

In FUNdamentals, athletes get to learn simple cheer skills like arm motions, jumps, and even beginner tumbling (like forward rolls and cartwheels). The main goal is to have fun while learning. The coaches make sure everything is super safe to minimize the risk of getting hurt while learning and trying new things.

Also in FUNdamentals, athletes might even play fun games and do themed practices to keep things interesting. The program is about building confidence, making friends, and having a blast while learning cheer skills.

When your athlete is ready to take their cheer skills to the next level, that’s where All Star Cheer comes in! All Star Cheer is like the big leagues of cheer. Instead of cheering for other sports teams, All Star teams compete against other cheer teams. It’s all about putting on an amazing performance and showing off your skills.

Being part of an All Star Cheer team is a big commitment. The athletes spend a lot of time practicing, traveling to competitions, and working hard to be their best. But the rewards are totally worth it, and FUNdamentals is an AWESOME place to start!

As FUNdamentals athletes move up into All Star Cheer, they will learn more advanced skills such as more complicated stunts, jumps, tumbling passes, and even dances as part of their routines. Everything is put together into an AMAZING overall routine set to music. Almost like a choreographed dance but with flips, jumps, and stunts added in!

One of the best parts of cheer in general is all of the teamwork that is involved, and FUNdamentals is a great place to begin to learn this! You have to work together with your teammates to make your routine look phenomenal! The more involved you become in All Star Cheer, the more it feels like being part of a big family, where everyone supports each other and works toward a common goal.

On top of all that, FUNdamentals is a fantastic way to stay fit and healthy. FUNdamentals athletes do exercises which help build strength and flexibility. Plus, all the jumping and tumbling is a great workout for their hearts and muscles.

FUNdamentals is an extraordinary experience where skills like teamwork, perseverance, and confidence are developed, all while having a ton of fun with friends.

Who knows?

Maybe after taking part in the FUNdamentals program, the door to All Star Cheer will open and an athlete who began in this most very basic of programming, may soon find themselves performing in front of thousands of others who are cheering them on at competition!
