Hairbows are one of the items most synonymous with Cheerleaders of every type.
Whether All Star Cheer, Town Cheer, or School Cheer, hairbows are one aspect of a cheer “uniform” that is seen consistently throughout.
Cheer programs and teams often put much thought into the design of each bow as they not only want it to flow with the rest of their uniform, but they also want the “ooh & ahh” factor from those who may see it as well.
Hairbows have evolved over time and these days while some stray away from the traditional hairbows per se (instead opting for items such as hair “cuffs” and the like), the hairbow’s influence certainly remains.

At many competitions, it is not unusual to see vendors peddling opportunities for athletes to customize their own personal hairbows on the spot (which they wear in the future at practices or simply when hanging out, etc.).
Specialty hairbows are also often made for cheer teams that may order them to be worn at a special event.
An example of this may be if a team is invited to attend a specific competition which they had been working hard to earn a spot at.
The leaders of the team may have hairbows made up which reflect this achievement and the athletes may wear them when traveling to the city that the event is being held at, at a team practice while at the competition, or any of the other variety of opportunities they may have related to the competition which allow the athletes an opportunity to showcase their attainment through the creative expression displayed in their hairbow.

There are companies that are purely in existence for the creation and selling of hairbows and related items.
As with anything, some are looked at as “better” than their competitors.
“Better” in this case not only refers to the quality of the hairbow or related item themselves, but also (as you might imagine) how efficient a company is from design through delivery and how easy the company makes this process feel for those working with them in general.

Over the years, many “Cheer Moms” and other people related to a given team or program have been known to try their hand (some successfully, some not so much) at the creation of hairbows for their teams in an effort to help out the team as a way of saving money or perhaps even transitioning this fledgling talent into a business, providing whomever may want to hire them with an alternative for their hairbow purchase, while at the same time creating a nice side hustle for these ambitious hairbow-creating folks.
While traditionally a dominant feature of the hairbow is the “tail”, tail-less hairbows have increased in popularity over the years.
Although hairbows are worn for a variety of scenarios – competitions, practices, as a team building activity, etc. – something that is absolutely prevalent throughout is the thought, effort, and passion exhibited in the qualities of the hairbow, no matter how complicated or simple their design may be.
