If you are involved with All Star Cheerleading to any degree, chances are that you will at one time or another come across the term ‘USASF’ (if you are an athlete or have an athlete competing, this is true ESPECIALLY as you near your first competition!).
USASF stands for the United States All Star Federation. It’s a group that helps organize and develop the rules for All Star Cheerleading.
The USASF’s ultimate goal is to make sure that all teams follow the same rules to keep everyone safe and to allow competition to be as fair as possible. They want cheerleading to be fun and exciting, but they also want it to be safe for everyone involved!
An important thing the USASF does is set guidelines for how cheerleaders should execute their skills. They want to make sure that the athletes do not get hurt while they’re jumping, flipping, stunting, etc. One example is rules about how high athletes can be lifted and how they should land safely.
Another thing the USASF does is help in the organization of competitions for All Star cheer teams. These competitions often bring together teams from all over the region – or even the country – to show off their skills & routines and compete for various awards. The USASF aims to ensure that these competitions are fair and that everyone has a good time.
Making sure that athletes are properly registered with the USASF is a way in which everyone can be assured that teams at competition are set up most appropriately by age.
The USASF also helps establish a scoring system broken up by skill level (Level 1, Level 2, and so on…) which can be utilized within the All Star Cheer world as a guideline for constructing teams and routines.
One of the things that the USASF is hyper-focused on is the continual development of safety programming for All Star gym owners, coaches, and staff. There are USASF requirements which need to be met that include registration, safety training, and background checks – all in the interest of fostering All Star environments that are as safe as possible.
The USASF also provides general industry training and certification for coaches and judges. This helps make sure that everyone involved in All Star cheerleading knows how to do their job as properly as possible. Coaches learn how to teach athletes new skills safely, and judges learn how to score competitions fairly.
In addition to competitions, the USASF also hosts events where cheerleaders can learn new skills and meet other athletes from around the country. These events are a lot of fun and help cheerleaders improve their skills.
USASF promotes teamwork and sportsmanship. Cheerleading is a team sport, and the USASF wants to make sure that everyone works together and supports each other. They also want cheerleaders to be good sports, whether they win or lose.
Without the USASF, All Star cheerleading truly wouldn’t be as organized or as exciting. Whether you’re an athlete, coach, or fan, the USASF is an important part of the cheerleading community!
