Being on time for cheer practice is SUPER important! It is – literally – the key to unlock all the fun and success in cheer!

Why is this such a big deal?!?

First, being on time shows that you are responsible and ready to learn. Imagine if you went to school late every day. You might miss important lessons and fun with your friends. Just like that, if you’re late for cheer practice, you will surely miss out on properly warming up and perhaps even a new skill or part of the routine. And typically, nobody truly wants to miss out on anything!

Second, being on time helps your team work together smoothly. Cheerleading is all about teamwork. When you’re late, it can mess up plans and make things harder for everyone. It’s like trying to build a tower of blocks, but one of the blocks is missing. It just doesn’t work as well! When everyone arrives on time, the team can start practice and work on getting better together right away.

Third, being on time shows respect for your coaches and teammates. Your coaches work really hard to make sure you have a great time and learn new skills. When you’re late, it can make them feel like their time isn’t that important to you. And your teammates rely on you to be there to practice together. Being late can also make them feel like you don’t care as much about the team. But when you’re on time, it shows that you respect and value everyone’s time and effort.

Fourth, being on time helps you improve faster. Cheer takes practice, practice, and more practice! If you’re late, you miss out on valuable practice time. Just like learning to ride a bike, the more you practice, the better you get. If you want to be the best cheerleader you can be, you’ve got to be on time and ready to go!

Lastly, being on time sets a good example for others. When you show up on time, it encourages your teammates to do the same. It’s like being a shining star that leads the way. Plus, it makes your coaches proud to see you being responsible and dependable.

Cheer is unlike any other sport in that EVERY single person is important.

If one person is missing – even just being a little bit late- a stunt may not be able to fully go up, the pyramid may not be complete, and even missing a tumbler could sell the team short on a coach working to see how the entire routine looks at any particular moment in time.

Being on time is the first step in this process.

A wise person once said:

“If you’re early, you’re on time.

If you’re on time, you’re late.

If you’re late, you’re forgotten.”

Being on time for cheer practice is super important because it shows responsibility, helps teamwork, respects coaches and teammates, aids in improvement, and sets a good example.

Let’s all make sure to set our alarms, tie our shoes, and beright on time for our next practice!
